Where Earth meets Sky:
“Aang, may I join you?”
“Huh, sure Toph, I was just watching the sunset.”
“I love sunsets.” She said, sitting beside him, “I can’t see them, but I can feel the warmth fading away. Say, is something troubling you?”
“I’m all right,” he lied, “Just tired, it’s been a long day.”
Toph wasn’t deceived, “You know you can’t lie to me, so what’s on your mind?”
“I don’t want to burden you with my troubles,” he explained, “It’s just … I sometimes feel that the task before us is so big, while I feel so small…”
“Don’t worry,” replied Toph, placing her arm around Aang’s waist in a comforting gesture, “I will always be there to help, you know.”
Unused to spontaneous shows of affection, it took him a short moment to return the embrace, placing his hand on her shoulder, “I know Toph, thank you.”
She leaned on him, taking solace in his trust and friendship, “Anytime, Aang.”
For a treasured moment, they held on to what remnants of childhood were still allowed them, thus finding happiness in the simple beauty of the sunset. They remained there unwilling to shatter the magic, until the sun finally vanished where earth meets sky.

I was inspired to make a Avatar fanart after seeing the amazing ones created by Rufftoon [link]
I don’t think this scene has or will ever happen, it’s just an idea that wouldn’t leave me alone until I put it down on paper (so to speak). I have browsed as many Avatar fanarts as possible here at DA and haven’t seen anything similar, but if you have I would appreciate if you could point me to it. This is my second serious attempt at drawing a couple, so please forgive some akwardness in the poses.
Following Rufftoon's comment regarding the color of the sky, I revisited this fanart and corrected that detail. It looks much better this way

The way I see it Taang would have worked so much better story wise if they had put effort into it. I love opposite personalities getting together they make for the best relationship drama and payoff. Kataang was a glorified crush I'm sorry but it was.
